On reaching Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple courts and began driving out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. And as he taught them, he said, “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’? But you have made it ‘a den of robbers. Mark 11:15,17

It’s Jesus! Look what He is doing!

Why would he overturn the checkout line and drive out animals from the meat department? He just ruined the Temple Grocery Store!

Jesus was the crowd’s darling after a triumphal entry into Jerusalem. The noise had been deafening with children shouting, adults calling their Hosannas and everyone clamoring to get a view of the promised Messiah and coming king. Jesus was “The Man!”

So…what just happened?

Jesus overturned the money changers’ tables, drove the animals out of the Temple and chased all of the merchants out of the sacred space. In short, Jesus just ruined any chance of being crowned king. His reputation was destroyed and everyone was disappointed.

Why?

Jesus overturned the lives of everyone. Not only the grocers, but the Temple priests and leaders, the townspeople and anyone who happened to be passing through Jerusalem for Passover. Jesus’ actions were not in keeping with the view of a kingly leader.

What about you?

Has Jesus overturned anything in your life? When you came to Jesus with your predetermined ideas of how He would guide you, did He overturn your ideas? How about your personal growth plan or your five-year business model? Did Jesus wreck your plans? Did He overturn your desires? Your hopes?

Jesus has a way of overturning everything in our lives.

Why?

Not only does He have a plan for you and me, but Jesus also wants to be The One and Only in our lives.

Are you ready to follow?

Jesus will Overturn…..
